With the sun expected to shine for most of the weekend, it’s a great time to get out in the community and support some great local organizations.

1. Community project

Help rebuild the Queen Elizabeth rink on Saturday between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. Members of the community will be demolishing the old rink before getting ready to rebuild. Bringing your own tools is highly recommended. If you’re interested in helping, contact volunteers@qexca.ca.

2. Sip and Shine

The Nutana Legion hosts a classic car show and barbecue on Saturday between 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Head by the legion building to enjoy classic, custom and antique vehicles, then grab a burger and a beer for $5.

3. Classic cruise

Keep the classic car fun going by enjoying the last socially distant cruise of the season. Participants in the cruise will meet in the parking lot near Princess Auto at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Spectators can check out the Facebook event page hosted by Saskatoon Car Meets for full route info.

4. Art show

Handmade House has been a mainstay in the Saskatoon art community for half a century. Head there this weekend — or any day the shop is open until Oct. 24 — to enjoy “In Summer’s Shadow (A quartet of dreams),” an exhibition of iron work by local artisan and blacksmith Jim Gerlinsky.

5. Yard sale

Support the care of local wildlife in need and grab some great new-to-you items at the Living Sky Wildlife Rehabilitation yard sale at 100 Rayner Avenue. The sale starts Friday at 3 p.m. and runs all weekend until Sunday at 4 p.m.
